How I Got Started With Digital Marketing

My journey officially kicked off in April 2005, while I was serving in the United States Army.

At the time, I was unhappy, overwhelmed by debt, and worried about my family’s future. I reached a breaking point where I knew something had to change.

One evening, I sat at home and started researching how to generate extra income online. That’s when I discovered Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet by Corey Rudl.

What caught my attention weren’t flashy promises — it was the testimonials. I saw people in their 50s, 60s, even 70s building online businesses from home. That gave me hope.

I purchased the program, and a week later, I dove in headfirst.

My First Wins (And Why They Mattered)

One of the first online business models I learned was selling on eBay.

When I made my first sale — a $600 profit in less than a week — I shared the news with my wife, and we were ecstatic. That moment changed everything. It wasn’t just about the money — it was proof that this was real.

From there, I learned how to build websites and began creating sites for clients, earning $500–$700 per website.

Unfortunately, my military obligations soon became demanding, and I had to pause my online business for a time.
